Privacy

  • Secure access. When you log in to iBank you are in a secure session. You can confirm that you are in a secure session by checking two facts:
    • the URL address begins with https://
    • a padlock symbol is located in the lower right hand corner of your browsers task bar.
You can (and should, if you ever doubt that you might not be seeing the genuine iBank site) verify validity of Griffon Bank secure server certificate by clicking on the padlock symbol. Our secure certificate has been issued to us by Verisign, the most trusted certification authority on the Internet, and confirms that nobody else can pass themselves off as Griffon Bank. You can also check the encryption type and strength.
  • Encryption. SSL technology (Secure Socket Layer) is used by iBank to encrypt the information exchanged between your computer and the Griffon Bank servers. This ensures that no one can intercept it and read it. At Griffon Bank we use SSLv3 with a minimum of 128-bit encryption and up to 256-bit if your browser supports it.

Depending on your browser setting, a pop-up window may appear to notify you that you will be entering a secured page. Our internal iBank mail is similarly protected with encryption technology (unlike your regular e-mails).
  • Session cut-off. If you forget to log off after using iBank, or you go and get yourself a cup of coffee and leave your computer, the session will be automatically cut off after a certain period of inactivity.

Technology

Here at Griffon Bank we use many stages of security – for obvious reasons we will not disclose them all in detail – but the following are typically used:

  • We use firewalls to prevent unauthorized intrusion.
  • All our operating systems are updated with the latest security patches.
  • Our anti-virus software is updated hourly.

Identification

  • Username and passwords. We use Usernames and passwords to identify our customers. iBank access to your account is only possible once you have authenticated yourself using the correct username and password. For this reason it is critical that you do not share your password and do not use the same password for other services (e.g. e-mail).
  • Automatic blocking. In case of multiple incorrect attempts to log in, we disable iBank access to your account. To unblock your account, you should contact your accounts manager.
