Convers MenX Team, jointly sponsored by Griffon Bank had an excellent finish at the “24 hours of Le Mans” race in France

Last weekend in France, the popular annual car-racing event “24 hours of Le Mans”, took place for the 75th time. This is the most prestigious and gruelling endurance circuit race in the world.

Traditionally the Le Mans marathon is organized in June and attracts a lot of public attention. It is estimated that over 250,000 spectators watched it live on the circuit and over 5 million people watched it on their TVs. It is a real endurance trial, because racers drive around the clock at the maximum speeds along the 13 km long track. On the Le Mans circuit - one of the longest and fastest tracks in the world – the average speed is 220 kilometres per hour and a maximum speed of 400 kmh is often reached. Victory is highly appreciated here by both automobile manufacturers and racers themselves.

Four different classes of racing cars participated in this year’s Le Mans race; among them two prototype categories, LMP1 and LMP2, as well as the other serial models of GT1 and GT2 classes specially equipped for the race. The winner of the race is the team which drives the longest distance in 24 hours. This year the trophy was taken by Audi works team, which had to fight until the end with very capable Peugeot team.

Convers MenX Team, jointly sponsored by Conversbank, AB Bankas Snoras, MenX and Griffon Bank Limited entered their Ferrari 550 Maranello in the GT1 class to be driven by three race drivers, Alexey Vasiliev from Russia and Robert Pergl with Tomas Kostka, both from the Czech Republic. Among the 55 cars participating in the race, the Ferrari 550 Maranello of the Convers MenX Team crew was the only Ferrari of this model. Ferrari admirers had an opportunity to enjoy rather good results - from 29 cars which reached the finish, our Ferrari Maranello took 14th place overall, whereas in their class GT1 Convers MenX Team finished eighth.
